Welcome to Small World, a new series where I share all of the things that piqued my interest this month. This edition also includes my best small business purchases of 2024.
This year has been difficult for me at times, both personally and professionally, but working on Small Fry has brought me so much joy! I’ve loved connecting with you and hearing about which small businesses you’ve discovered & made purchases from because of my posts, and I am just so grateful for every one of you.
I’ll be back with a new post on January 5th, but I hope you all have a lovely holiday.
Things I liked this month:
This piece on angel cake about new year’s resolutions
837 North perfume oils (I have the cinnamon + violet, but the blood orange + tangerine smells amazing too)
This video about crinkle crankle walls
And this tour of Richard E. Grant’s dreamy home
And now, my best small business purchases of 2024:
Kaan Mini Lanyard Pouch
My beloved concert venue approved bag. It’s waterproof, it’s cobalt blue, it’s adorable. What more could you ask for? It fits keys, a lip gloss, my ID and credit card, and even some Tums or a ginger chew. The last time I mentioned this, a lot of colorways were sold out, but it looks like Kaan has restocked a few since then.
Jack + G Earrings
These were my gift to myself for completing three months of OCD treatment! I had been looking for something a little different than just a plain hoop, but also wanted them to be lightweight enough for everyday wear, and these have been perfect. Also, apparently Ayo Edebiri wears a different a few different pairs by the same brand in The Bear which automatically makes them cool if you needed any more convincing.
Golde Pure Matcha
I’ve recently switched to matcha in the afternoon to curb my anxiety a bit, and it makes such a huge difference.
Sewing 101 Class at Workshop PGH
Earlier this year, a friend of mine suggested that we take this sewing class together, and I’m so happy we did. It’s been great to have a hobby I enjoy that isn’t at all related to my job. I am still pretty bad on the technical side, but I get a little better every time I make something. And yes, I do have a thing for this shade of blue, apparently.
Little Lau Shop Egg Dish
This egg dish is my most recent small business purchase. I’m using it to keep all of my everyday jewelry in one place and he’s looking after it. I love him.
Thanks for being here! See you in January 🎣
